History of Flyway Mutual Insurance Company

Flyway Mutual Insurance Company was formed in Waupun on March 13, 1874 under the original title of Waupun Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company. On June 12, 1874 a meeting was held to begin business. Fond du Lac, Dodge, & Green Lake were the first counties in which the company wrote business. 

The company wrote only fire insurance until 1960 when extended coverage was added. May 14, 1969 was the start of the package policy. The company now was able to offer liability and property protection. 

The company has grown with various mergers over the years:

  • 1971 Waupun Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and Ripon Town Mutual merged, with the company renamed Waupun-Ripon Mutual Insurance Company.
  • November 1974 Waupun-Ripon Mutual and Town of Trenton Mutual merged. The Company renamed to Waupun-Ripon-Trenton Mutual Insurance Company.
  • In March of 1983, the name of the Corporation was changed to Flyway Mutual Insurance Company, as it is known today.
  • In 1987, Beaver Dam-Woodland-Burnett Mutual Insurance merged into Flyway.
  • Most recently, Flyway Mutual Insurance Company members voted in favor of a merger with Rosendale Mutual Insurance Company effective April 1, 2012.

Flyway Mutual Insurance Company offers insurance for Farm, Home, Mobile Home, Renters, and Fire. Currently we write coverage in twelve counties in the State of Wisconsin: Adams, Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Marquette, Sheboygan, Washington, Waukesha, Waushara, and Winnebago.

The Rosendale Insurance Agency, LLC was acquired in the last merger. The agency offers Auto, Cycle, Antique Auto, ATV, Personal Umbrella, & Small Business policies.
